Security Council (SC)

The Security Council has primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security, as per the UN Charter. The 5 permanent members of the Security Council have veto power over all decisions made by the council. When the Security Council considers a threat to international peace, it first explores ways to settle the dispute peacefully however in some cases, may authorize the utilization of military force as a last resort. Due to the intensity of debate stimulated from the council, this committee is more suited towards highly experienced delegates.
